Secondary Literacy Micro-Credential
The Lastinger Learning Literacy Micro-Credential provides accessible, on-demand professional learning at no cost for Florida sixth through twelfth-grade instructional personnel. Learners can work at their own pace while implementing classroom strategies in real time and receiving feedback and support from a navigator.

Eligible Participants
This program is available to sixth through twelfth grade public and public charter instructional personnel.
Timeline
Application window for the fall opens on July 14, 2025.
*Learners working toward a reading endorsement in the Literacy Matrix will be required to complete either the Elementary or Secondary Literacy Micro-Credential/Competency 1 as a prerequisite.
Modules
Parts 1, 2, and 3 are now integrated into one streamlined course!
Part 1
Format: Asynchronous, instructor-supported online module
The Foundations of Literacy: Science of Reading course covers
*Learners have the option to test out of Part 1 via a pre-assessment. If mastery is earned during the pre-assessment, learners can bypass Part 1 course content and begin in Part 2.
Part 2
Format: Asynchronous, instructor-supported online module
Instructional personnel will learn how to provide reading intervention and practice using student data to inform their teaching strategies.

Part 3
Format: Online, instructor-supported, job-embedded practicum
This job-embedded practicum provides instructional personnel with case study data, based on Cambium progress monitoring assessments, for an individual student from the class profile.
Expected completion time for all three parts is 11 weeks.
*Successful completion of all three parts of the micro-credential will earn 60 inservice hours and fulfill the Reading requirement for certification renewal.
