Small Group Literacy Instruction professional learning provides K-12 literacy educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to make instructional decisions based on the individual needs of students.

This program follows a five step research-based approach to reading instruction:

  • Step 1: Reading for Fluency
  • Step 2: Targeted Assessment
  • Step 3: Explicit Word Instruction
  • Step 4: Reading for Meaning
  • Step 5: Connecting Reading and Writing

Eligible Participants

This program is designed for Kindergarten – 12th grade literacy educators.

Format

Small Group Instruction professional learning is comprised of:

  • 3 days (18 hours) of face-to-face training
  • 2 (2-hour) virtual ongoing professional learning sessions
  • 5 on-site (6-hour) Implementation Support Visits
