New Worlds Reading Teacher Professional Learning

The New Worlds Reading Initiative Teacher Professional Learning, created in partnership with the Florida Department of Education and the UF Lastinger Center for Learning, is a FREE professional learning opportunity for Florida educators.

Program Overview

This program consists of training and resources that connect the New Worlds Reading Initiative home book delivery program to classroom-based literacy instruction.  

Eligible Participants

K-5 classroom teachers in Florida’s public schools, including public charter schools
VPK lead teachers and aides who work at a VPK contracted provider

Components

1.5-day, instructor-led institute (breakfast, lunch and snacks provided)
Day 1: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Day 2: 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Training and resources that connect New Worlds Reading Initiative home book delivery program to classroom-based school literacy instruction

Timeline

Each school district, including charter schools and lab schools, has been assigned a regional location. Sessions for 2025 are scheduled in regions across the state and organized into VPK-K, 1-2, and 3-5 grade bands.
