New Worlds Reading Teacher Professional Learning
The New Worlds Reading Initiative Teacher Professional Learning, created in partnership with the Florida Department of Education and the UF Lastinger Center for Learning, is a FREE professional learning opportunity for Florida educators.
Program Overview

This program consists of in-person training and resources to take back to the classroom that connect the New Worlds Reading Initiative home book delivery program to literacy instruction.
Eligible Participants
- K-5 classroom teachers in Florida’s public schools, including public charter schools
- VPK lead teachers and aides who work at a VPK contracted provider

Components
- Training and resources that connect the New Worlds Reading Initiative home book delivery program to classroom-based literacy instruction
- One-day, in-person institute
- 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST
- Breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided

2026 Timeline
Institute sessions are scheduled at three locations across the state and organized into VPK-K, 1-2, and 3-5 grade bands.
Participants may attend any one-day institute at any of the three locations, regardless of district of employment. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
