Community of Practice Facilitator Training
This program prepares participants to effectively facilitate professional learning experiences through collaborative tools and processes.
Program Overview
The Lastinger Community of Practice facilitator training provides participants with an understanding of how to facilitate adult learners through collaborative tools and high-quality, job-embedded professional learning.
Guided by the Lastinger Community of Practice framework, this program teaches current or aspiring facilitators how to:
- Give and receive feedback effectively
- Engage in reflective conversations
- Analyze successes and challenges
- Implement collaborative tools and processes to support practice
Successful completion is defined as mastery submission of all prework and synchronous assignments during the initial facilitator training. Participants earn 1.5 IACET CEUs (15 inservice hours).

- Those who regularly convene groups of early childhood educators

- Aspiring facilitators and program leaders

Maintain Your Certification
Previously certified facilitators must recertify annually by participating in a Calibration.

For New or Aspiring Facilitators
CoP Institutes
Early Childhood professionals who would like to become a Lastinger certified CoP facilitator can complete a three-day Institute.
Format
Institutes are in-person and span three days.
Community of Practice Calibrations
(required annually)
Overview
Lastinger Certified Facilitators maintain their certification and deepen their facilitation skills through the CoP Calibrations. Participants only need to attend one three-hour Calibration virtually or in-person to maintain their certification.
Audience:
Lastinger certified CoP facilitators
Upon successful completion of this professional learning, participants earn 0.5 IACET CEUs (5 in-service hours).
Successful completion is defined as:
- Submission of all pre-work requirements
- Attendance and active participation in the synchronous calibration session
Facilitators assess participant learning through observation of participation, quality of contributions during collaborative work, and the completed action plan. Successful completion results in the awarding of CEUs for the calibration session.
