Math Language Routines
Every student has mathematical ideas worth sharing.
When students explain their reasoning, justify their solutions and discuss their thinking, they deepen their understanding and build confidence as mathematicians. How about using practical, research-based strategies to unlock that potential? The UF Lastinger Center developed a set of bite-sized professional learning experiences based on the eight Math Language Routines (Zwiers et al., 2017).
These free math resources help all students—especially multilingual learners—develop and refine the language skills that make mathematical reasoning visible and powerful. They’re quick to learn, easy to implement and designed specifically for today’s educators.

How It Works
For each of the eight Math Language Routines there are two sets of instructional resources—small, powerful moves you can use tomorrow. Every set includes multiple resources so you can learn and implement in the way that works best for you:
